ELENA GLURDJIDZE - English National Ballet





BIOGRAFIA

Elena Glurdjidze (Elene Glurjidze) was born in 1974 in Tblisi, Georgia. She received her training at Tbilisi Choreographic School and the Vaganova St Petersburg Academy of Russian Ballet. She danced with the Russian Ballet Company in St Petersburg, St Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre, St Petersburg Ballet Theatre of Konstantin Tatchkin before she in 2002 joined the English National Ballet as a Principal dancer. In 2007 she became Senior Principal dancer.

Repertoire includes:
Kitri in Don Quixote, Swanilda in Coppelia, Princess Aurora and the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, the dual role of Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, and the title roles in Giselle and Cinderella. Her repertory also includes Paquita, Mark Morris' Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes, various George Balanchine ballets, Fokine's Chopiniana, Ashton's Sylvia, Cranko's Onegin, and others.

Awards:
Bronze medal 8th Moscow Int Competition of Ballet Artists 1997.
Winner 8th Paris Int Competition of Soloists 1998.
Best Partner 7th Perm Open Competition 2002.
